Over the years as a fine art sculptor, it has become clear to me that Postmodernism, the ruling art trend, leaves little to no room for real, substantial sculpture.
If a piece of work is not ‘trendy’ or ‘conceptual’ or fighting a social justice cause, it is not accepted in the art world anymore. But let me ask you this: do you feel nourished by the cultural setting that we inhabit?
I miss the vitality that once ran through our cultural veins. I find myself becoming more and more unfulfilled when I see that anything can now be considered sculpture. But if anything can be sculpture, then nothing is.
